Do you have a shop or showroom we can visit before purchase?
Yes, we have five stores across the central belt of Scotland with flagships in both Glasgow & Edinburgh. We have over 1000 fabrics stocked in store across all of our product types – curtain, blind & soft furnishing fabrics, dressmaking & quilting fabrics as well as a fully stocked haberdashery.

I can’t make it in to one of your stores, are you able to visit me at home?
Yes, we have a team of Home Design Consultants based at each store and covering the whole of Scotland. They are able to visit you in the comfort of your own home to offer advice and inspiration for made to measure curtains, blinds and soft furnishings. They can also measure your windows and generate a no-obligation quote, bringing a selection of fabrics with them for you to choose from. Please call your local store on book an appointment online.

How can I be sure of the quality of your made to measure items?
All our made to measure curtains, blinds and soft furnishings are hand made to the highest standards at our workroom based in Central Scotland. All items are hand finished, quality controlled and supplied with the Remnant Kings Guarantee – our 12 month guarantee on all products from the time they are delivered or fitted. Our promise to you that your curtains, blinds and soft furnishings are made to your exact specification and if you are not entirely happy we will repair or replace them at no charge.
What options do I have for made to measure curtains and blinds?
We offer six header types of curtain:
3” Pencil Pleat – gather curtains for a full and luxurious finish
6” Pencil Pleat – gathers curtains for a full finish, recommended on a long drop
Eyelet – a modern design which gives a clean look
Wave – a new style, creates soft even folds in a flowing wave shape
Cartridge Pleat - sewn in wave shaped pleats to hold a more structured fold
Pinch pleat – sewn in pleats for a more sophisticated look
Triple Pinch Pleat – a more decorative style of sewn in pleats
We offer the following linings for both curtains and blinds:
Premium Cotton Lining - standard, premium quality cotton lining suitable for all projects
Thermal – specially coated to provide extra insulation to your curtains or blinds
Blackout – have a longer lie in with light blocking blackout lining, ideal for bedrooms
Superfleece – luxury bonded fleece lining which adds weight and body to your curtains
All options are available during the made to measure online ordering process and in-store.
For blinds, we offer Roman Blinds only online with the above linings, however in-store we also offer roller & venetian blinds and shutters.
How do I care for my curtains and blinds?

Can I use my own fabric?
Unfortunately not. Only fabrics offered online and in-store can be used for our made to measure service. If you don’t see the fabric you are looking for, please contact us as we are able to source most available fabrics.
How long will it take for my made to measure items to arrive?
All our made to measure curtains, blinds and soft furnishings are handmade in Scotland and on average take 3-4 weeks to be delivered. At our busier times, generally during sale periods and the run up to Christmas, this can extend to a maximum of 6 weeks. We will advise you soon after you order if there are any anticipated delays. Our cut off for guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas falls in mid-November and will be announced nearer the time.
Do you have fabrics suitable for upholstery?
Yes, all upholstery suitable fabrics are marked with this in the product technical specifications and grouped together in our upholstery category. All Martindale rub test values are available where appropriate.
I’ve ordered a large amount of fabric, will this be supplied from the one roll?
Yes, most large quantities of fabric are supplied from the one piece, up to approximately 40 metres, to ensure they are from the same dye batch or print run. If your order is for more than 40 metres, we will ensure that all fabric is supplied from the same batch. However, in rare occasions we need to order in your meterage from the supplier meaning a slightly longer lead time. Our team will advise if there are any issues around this or a delay to your order.
Do you offer samples?
Yes, we offer small samples for all our fabrics which allow you to see the scale and colour of the fabric. When you find a fabric that you are interested in, simply click 'Add sample' and it will be added to your basket. Samples are charged at 50p each with free delivery. This service is based on a fair use policy and multiple sample orders will be sent at our discretion. Please allow 3-5 working days for delivery.
What quantity can I buy fabric in?
All of our fabrics are sold in 10cm lengths with a minimum order of 50cm to allow you to buy exactly what you need for your interiors or dressmaking project. Our fabric calculator is available to estimate the amount of fabric you require for curtains and blinds and dressmaking meterage can be found on the sewing pattern you are using.
Do you make garments?
Unfortunately not, our made to measure service only covers curtains, blinds and soft furnishings.
How much fabric do I need for my project?
Our fabric calculator is available to estimate required fabric amounts for curtains and blinds and should be used as a guide.
For dressmaking projects, your pattern will advise the amount of fabric you require to make the garment or craft item.
However, as a rough guide we advise the following: 1.5-2metres for tops and bottoms, depending on sleeve and leg length
2-3metres for dresses, depending on length, sleeve and detail
2-3metres for jackets, depending on length and detail
3-4metres for coats, depending on length, sleeve and detail
These are not set amounts and vary from garment to garment, it is best to refer to the pattern you will use.
How heat resistant is the table protector?
Our table protector is designed to protect your table from the heat of a warm plate or teacup, however would not withstand the heat of items straight out of the oven for example. Its easy wipe-clean surface also protects your table from accidental spills.
What shipping options are available?
We ship via Royal Mail and selected courier depending on the size and value of your order. This will be calculated at checkout and our standard charges are £5.50 for Standard Delivery.
Free delivery is available on orders over £100 for UK mainland only.
Non-Mainland UK Delivery is charged at £8.95.
We are able to ship internationally, costs for this are generated on an individual basis and are displayed at checkout.
We process orders Monday to Friday and orders placed prior to 12pm will be dealt with on the same working day, all items have estimated despatch times listed against them and once with our delivery partner should take no more than 2-3 working days to arrive.
What payment options are available?
We accept payment online via all major credit and debit cards (except American Express) as well as PayPal. All options will be displayed to you at checkout.
In-store we accept payment by cash and all major credit and debit cards (except for American Express), unfortunately we can no longer accept cheques.
On special request, we can sometimes offer bank transfer as an option on large value purchases. Please ask in-store or email us for more information on this.
Can I get a VAT invoice?
All payment confirmations contain a VAT breakdown of your order which acts as your receipt and VAT invoice.
Can I amend or cancel my order?
Orders can only be amended or cancelled if placed after 12pm as these are not processed until the following day. Once a fabric is cut we are unable to change or cancel this as it is considered a custom made order and exempt from distance shopping regulations. Please ensure that you accurately enter your requirements at time of order.
What return options do I have?
Unfortunately we are unable to accept returns on cut products (fabric, trims etc) and made to measure items as they are custom made to your entered requirements, please ensure you enter these accurately at the time of purchase.
However, this does not affect your statutory rights and if your item is flawed in anyway please contact us for returns details.
We are unable to accept online returns in-store, please contact us for more information.
What do I do if my fabric is flawed?
Please contact us via email immediately if there is a flaw in your fabric or made to measure item, including a description and image of your flaw so we can rectify this. Unfortunately we cannot accept flaw complaints without seeing the damage. Once we have this we will advise on how we plan to fix this for you.
My fabric isn’t as described, what can I do?
We aim to describe all fabrics accurately and reflect their true colour, pattern and scale in all images on our website, however colours can look different depending on the screen viewed. To minimise the likelihood that your fabric isn’t as you expect, we offer samples of all fabrics charged at 50p per sample.
I see some items have a longer dispatch item, why is this?
Most of our fabrics are shipped directly from our stores however a small amount of our fabrics are delivered directly by our suppliers which can take an extra couple of days to process.
Can I buy gift vouchers?
Yes, we offer in-store and online gift vouchers in multiple values. However in-store vouchers can only be used in store and online vouchers can only be used on www.remnantkings.co.uk
