We were thrilled when Scottish lifestyle, parenting and home blogger, Ash Reid, more famously known as @mamareid, decided to work with us on creating the perfect interior in her new build home in Glasgow. The fact Ash was decorating her new house for her whole family was the perfect opportunity for us to showcase our wide range of curtain and furnishing fabrics.

For anyone that follows @mamareid, they will know she is passionate about interiors, however Ash loved the idea of working with the Remnant Kings home design team to help her bring her vision to reality without the stress.

Q Why did you want made to measure curtains?

A: From staying in hotels last year I noticed that many have full wall width curtains. It’s something I knew I wanted to recreate in our new home as it immediately creates a real sense of opulence and luxury.

Having our curtains made to measure purely from a convenience perspective was very important. I knew there would be mistakes made by trying to figure it out alone and knowing that we could have bespoke curtains made to measure was really exciting.

I love knowing that they’re not off the peg, and we got to be involved in the whole design process. There’s no better feeling than seeing your thoughts and imagination come to life.

Q How happy have you been with the service provided by RK and the final result?

A: The curtains are a focal point of every room in our new home and they pull each room design together. I’ve been most impressed by the knowledge of the staff, it’s a service you wouldn’t get in any high street interior shop and we were made to feel at ease, pointed in the right direction when we were lacking a bit of know-how and the team really understood our vision. They just ‘got it!’

Q Did you know what you wanted for each room before you went to RK or did they give you ideas?

A Based on reference images I brought to our first meeting, a few sample choices were laid out upon arrival at our first design appointment. I actually ended up picking two of the recommended fabrics that were pulled so they were spot on with my thought process. Something I loved about our experience is that we got given samples with the names of the fabric and the room they were planned for, so we could continue our home shopping with an idea of the colour palette.

Q What’s your fav room in the house?

A It’s a hard choice because I love them all for so many different reasons. The kid’s bedrooms look wonderful, so muted and relaxed and exactly the vibe I was going for. The living room feels cosy and modern, I adore the texture of the fabric choice in there (Topaz Fabric in Latte) and the fact it matches the roman blind, it’s really classy.

Our bedroom feels so luxurious with the heavier velvet curtains (Alessia Fabric in Taupe), and the way it contrasts with the white marble flooring is really effective. The french doors in the kitchen look so elegantly dressed (LInoso Fabric in Mushroom) and also provide a lovely backdrop for photos.

Q Where do you go to from home and interiors inspo?

A Pinterest & Instagram! I’m a lover of many social accounts but largely I like to follow pretty lavish living posts online and then tone them down and shrink them to fit in our little British living spaces!

Q Who are your favourite interiors bloggers?

A I love @littlebitofdovegrey @westhomeproperty and @thegrayhome - all incredibly beautiful accounts.

Q What’s your signature interiors style?

A I always struggle with this question as I don’t know exactly which genre I fall under but I would hazard a guess at modern, contemporary, luxe.

Q Why did you decide to work with Remnant Kings?

A As a fashion graduate it’s a company I’ve used throughout the years. I love the fact they are a well-established Scottish brand. Its reputation and experience speaks for itself and I was delighted to collaborate and show younger audiences just how on-trend the brand is despite being around for so long.

Q How easy was the process from start to finish?

A Beyond simple. They measure, you pick the fabric and heading choice etc, they make and fit. It’s been the most fuss-free part of our interior decorating process!

Q How long did the made to measure process take?

A Just a few weeks and that was due to our move in date and key release for the property. Really efficient!

Q You have two young kids - did this impact the fabrics you chose?

A Yes but not in the traditional way of picking something childish I suppose. As these are bespoke pieces that really stand the test of time I wanted something that would grow with them. Of course if you fancy dinosaur or fairies, that can be done but knowing my kids their passions change quicker than our Scottish weather and the dino curtains would be getting swapped for cars the next month! To save that hassle I went for a beautiful muted pink in Ella’s room (Wick Fabric in Heather) that I was clearly envious of as I copied her for my study.

Charlie’s room will have a travel theme and I picked out some striking material patterned with a really subtle nod to the mountains (Olympus Fabric in Taupe).
