How to Make a Basic Envelope Cushion • Remnant Kings:

how-to-2

Here’s how to make a simple yet stylish cushion cover that will instantly update the look of any room. These instructions are for creating a cover for a specified pad size – adapt measurements if your pad is a different size.

You’ll need: · Around 0.5m Fabric (approx. 137cm wide) · Needle and Matching Thread · 46cm x 46cm (18”x18”) Cushion Pad (or 51cm x 51cm (20”x20”) if you prefer a fuller cushion)

  1. Cut a 124cm by 50cm rectangle of fabric. Fold under 2cm and then 3cm along each short edge and hem.

  2. Lay out your fabric (correct side up) and fold the two hemmed edges to the centre so that they overlap by approx. 20cm. Stitch the sides taking 2cm seams.

  3. Stitch together then turn through the envelope opening and press with a cool iron.

  4. Place your cushion pad inside.

Top Tip If you want to create a cover for a different size of cushion pad you need a piece of fabric the width of your cushion pad, and 2.5 times the length of your cushion pad.
